Construction of new build student accommodation complex consisting of 1026 student bedrooms.

The opportunity

The design, procurement, construction, furnishing and initial operation of a new student living facility in Bradford. The scheme provided 1026 student bedrooms in a mixture of clusters and town houses to replace the University’s pre-existing shared student dormitory offerings.

The challenge

The development was built on a brownfield, steeply sloping site which presented structural challenges. Additionally, works took place within a live student campus, with a tight programme to allow for the building to be operational for the start of term.

The outcome

The project delivered 1026 units on time, on budget and to quality. The development became the first student scheme in the country to achieve a BREEAM Outstanding rating. Following this scheme TPI were awarded a further project by the client- converting an old warehouse building into a further 28 student units.
