The opportunity

The project involved transforming a greenfield site into a modern, fully equipped rugby club. The development included a two-storey clubhouse with four changing rooms, a club room with kitchen and bar, a terrace, and a function room. Additionally, a new 3G pitch built to RFU standards with floodlighting was constructed, offering future potential for additional grass pitches to enhance the club’s capabilities.

The challenge

Delivering a high-quality facility within Dartford Borough Council’s budget required careful planning and coordination. Managing two separate main contractors simultaneously, one for the rugby club and another for the specialist 3G pitch, posed logistical and scheduling challenges. Ensuring both elements were completed in parallel while maintaining design and construction integrity was critical to project success.

The outcome

The project was completed within budget, providing Dartford Valley RFC with a high-quality venue for home games. They club hopes the new facilities will increase interest and encourage new members to the sport from the local area.
