Total Project Integration were appointed as project managers, cost consultants and employer’s agents on the redevelopment of an existing commercial property in Christchurch, on behalf of BizSpace.

Works included a full soft strip-out, creation of managed workspace units and workshops together, full window replacement and an innovative design package for the communal areas.

George Skinner Senior Project Manager "Aerodrome House provided site challenges such as extensive asbestos contained within the existing soffit board – boarding which was designed to be left in-situ and had not contained any asbestos during the pre-contract surveys. As such, a re-design was required which impacted on the contracted tight programme. An external interior design enabled this 1980s building transform into a functional yet funky mix of managed workspace units, workshops and collaborative breakout spaces."

The opportunity

Two large commercial buildings in an industrial area in Christchurch on one site, with ample external space.

The challenge

The original scope of the works was to retain the existing soffit to all ground floor areas. It was soon apparent, following a number of surveys, that the existing soffit contains asbestos. A further scope was developed, however the challenges faced caused a number of programme challenges.

The outcome

Total Project Integration assisted BizSpace to successfully deliver a fully managed workspace comprising of offices, workshops and breakout areas and secure parking.
