Project: Roof replacement at live global distribution centre.

Cost: £4.8M

The full roof replacement of JCB’s Global Distribution Centre in Chatterley Valley, enhancing performance and reinstating rooftop systems.

The opportunity

To extend the lifespan of the building and improve energy efficiency, the existing roof required full replacement. TPI delivered a new roofing system featuring 80mm Kingspan insulation and a 1.5mm Fatra membrane, mechanically fixed to the steel frame. New rooflights, a liquid membrane lining to rainwater gutters, and a new man-safe system were also installed. Rooftop services including PV panels, solar thermal systems, and containment were carefully removed and fully reinstated.

The challenge

The building remained fully operational throughout the works, requiring careful coordination to maintain access, ensure safety, and minimise disruption. Adverse weather conditions also presented challenges during key stages of the programme.

The outcome

TPI successfully delivered a high-specification roof replacement with no disruption to operations. Through clear communication and proactive planning, the team protected critical systems and maintained programme progress despite weather delays. The project was completed on time and on budget, providing a durable, energy-efficient solution backed by a 25-year warranty.
