Our client the Port of Tyne, welcomes more than 250 delegates to the North East, as hosts for this year's British Ports Association Annual Conference.

Representatives from ports across the UK and beyond will meet at Sage, Gateshead for four days of activities and talks, given by a wide variety of distinguished industry speakers ranging from offshore energy to ship automation.  They included Andy MacDonald, Shadow Secretary of State for Transport, Tim Reardon, Head of EU Exit at the Port of Dover and Lucy Armstrong, Chair of the Port of Tyne.

The event, was last hosted by the Port of Tyne in 2007, coincides with the celebration of the organisation's 50th anniversary as a Trust Port. In addition to conference, delegates were treated to a guided tour of the Port's south estate, a trip along the River Tyne and a tour of the Swing Bridge.

A gala dinner, attended by representatives from Total Project Integration, together with  colleagues from the Port and other project functions, was held at the Hilton, Gateshead.

Andrew Moffat, CEO, Port of Tyne, said 'we are proud to host the 26th Annual Conference in the same year as our 50th anniversary.  Since the Port last hosted the conference eleven years ago, the sector has faced profound change affecting every aspect of how they operate.'

He went on to say 'as an island nation, the UK relies heavily on its ports, which have always been fundamental to the British economy.  95% of British traded goods pass through UK ports, contributing £7.6billion to the conomy each year.
