On the site of the former Energis House the building project is costing £38 million, and it used to be home to the Metal Box.

Contractors Galliford Try were joined by M&G Real Estate and Bell Hammer for the ceremony.

The building is creating 185,940 square foot of office space in its seven floors.

Matthew Pool, managing director for Galliford Try in the South East, said: "It is always a momentous point in any building to reach the topping out stage, but even more so for such a significant project as Forbury Place.

"Now we can really begin to see the new building coming together and the tremendous impact it will make on the Reading skyline."
